Balance/Dizziness Rehab

SRHS Neuro Rehab, a function of Rehab Services, provides vestibular rehab, treatment of balance and dizziness dysfunctions, to the Gulf Coast. These problems can be hard to describe but very debilitating for the person experiencing them.

The therapy used to treat these problems varies depending on the :

  • individual
  • symptoms
  • patients’ ability to follow directions and complete home exercises
  •  and other medical or physical issues.

Therapy in the clinic, in addition to the home exercises, consists of specific balance exercises that include

  • head movements
  • changing surfaces
  • changing visual environments
  • coordination challenges
  • gaze stability exercises
  • and exercises designed to help your body habituate or adapt to provoking movements

Therapy length can vary from one or two sessions to four to six weeks to even 12 weeks for more serious conditions. Therapy is done at the rehab services location and sometimes a home program is also prescribed.
